With OLD MAN WINTER rapidly approaching it is time to start thinking about getting your boats ready for the off season. We have just about anytype of marine related service available at Pro-Tech Marine. A short list of the common services is listed below:
Basic Winterization ~ this service consist of stablizing the fuel system and operating the engine until normal operating temperature is reached, then the engine is fogged to protect internal engine components from surface rust issues that are commonly associated with long term storage. The external engine is then coated with a fine mist of corrsion guard. The unit is greased at multiple locations and the lower unit lube is drained and refilled with the appropiate lower unit lube for the engine. This basically puts the engine to sleep for the winter and the fees are based on the engine brand, size and actual list of materials utilized for the service procedure. All inboard and or sterndrive engines along with any on board water systems will be drained and filled with a -100 non toxic marine grade antifreeze solution.
Since all boats are not equal, we have a hard time with this service having a set fee. We basically perform all cleaning and or detailing based on an hourly rate plus materials. We charge $ 75 per hour and this gets two people and equipment for an hour. The cleaning chemicals typically cost about $ 25 for the hour. This is what 90 percent of our customers utilize at the end of the season and they seem to be happy with this level of cleaning. This will typically get the boat carpet pressure washed, the seats external surfaces cleaned and treated and the fencing wiped down.
